Bridal Portraits: the who, what, when and where?
Getting married is one of the most important days of your life! And oddly enough you only get to wear that wedding gown but one time. All the frills of the day and your only able to wear this gorgeous gown once! Along with the actual day of there is plenty of moments you want to remember. And one of these memories you want to remember is that dress. Bridal portraits are sometimes done before the wedding day and can be given to your future husband as a gift to him. It’s a portrait of his future bride, his best friend, and his life partner. But also it’s a portrait that you will cherish forever. These portraits can be designed to your taste and also can end up being heirlooms for your children one day.
So what are bridal portraits exactly? It’s the time for you to wear all white, or wear some fancy lingerie, and or your wedding dress to feel pretty in. It’s truly more of a feminine photoshoot. It’s a shoot for you to get reacquainted with those curves and your whole body. No matter what body size you are, the session is for you. I will walk you through some beautiful posing that will make you feel like the queen you are. You will feel confident and strong, and by the end of the session, you may want to even strut yourself on a runway. ( I can’t say I haven’t seen it before 🙂 )
Where do I get these bridal portraits at? I’m located in Wilmington, NC. I have a home studio space where we can choose backdrops and fabrics, and we can work our way through a vanity fair inspired shoot. If you want more of a natural backdrop we can pick a secluded beach site. (Wrightsville Beach, Kure Beach, Charleston, Bald Head Island, Sullivans Island, Amelia Island, Ormond Beach, Newport, RI, etc).
When are bridal portraits a good idea? Whenever you want! Bridal portraits are for you. They are good before the wedding day and or after the wedding day. We can get as creative as you want in your dress. We can go into the ocean and create ethereal images of you floating through the water and having the gown just float. Can you envision how magical this could be? Or we can re-create posing in your dress in a garden and or recreate you putting your gown on and how delicate of a process it is.
The wardrobe you want to consider for bridal portraits is whatever makes you feel beautiful. Lace and variations of white are gorgeous with backlighting and on backdrops. Also, special fabrics and jewelry are always wonderful compliments in creating a beautiful bridal shoot. Shoes are always optional, but if you have beautiful shoes from your day and want to showcase them, bring them. Lingerie robes, white gowns, bathrobes, white dresses, and or lace shirts, or underlays are all wonderful items to think about bringing with you to our session. And if you feel a little skin shy, don’t worry. My goal isn’t to create nudes, my goal is to create fine art photography that has you in it. Â I want your images to be portraits you want to put on your walls.
