[Emily] senior portraits at Fort Fisher/Kure Beach, NC

Fort Fisher is one of my favorite places to photograph high school seniors and or anyone really. But alas its also my least favorite. Let me explain 🙂 It’s one of the most beautiful location spots for sunrise and sunset sessions. It’s literally built for the most dreamiest images for portraits. And its landscape is something so different from anywhere in our Wilmington area.

But with that said, we have so many obstacles against us. And by us, I mean me! 🙂 Oh the mosquitos are like dinosaurs! And this makes it very difficult sometimes to navigate, and did I mention the humidity? Yup, for whatever reason the humidity is always higher during the sunrise hours, so there’s that, and always sticky because we are near the water. But after knowing all this, I still take photos along these banks of water. I mean, when you have that cotton candy sky, that beautiful greenery and rocky area, how could you not want to try at least right?

So with that said, let me introduce you to Emily. Emily is a ballerina and a high school senior at Cape fear academy. Her mom inquired about photos with Emily, and I was so excited because I had never photographed a ballerina before!

Emily was so sweet and excited from the very moment we met at our local Starbucks. I wanted this session to really reflect where she was in this time of her life. And also a nice reminder of what all she has already done. Graduating high school is an incredible goal and accomplishment. I think we forget how much schooling has already passed when we get to this point. And it should most definitely be celebrated!

She of course is super intelligent, charismatic and talented! We had a lot of fun with posing and me trying to figure out all the right dance terminology to describe poses. Of course she was gracious and allowed me to direct her even when I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted us to do. I had the most fun on our sunrise session and was incredibly excited to incorporate some new spots at the Kure Beach Pier. I cannot wait to see what Emily does in her college years. For now though, she is off to a summer program at Clemson.

Below are some of my favorites of my session at Fort Fisher and Kure beach with Emily. Trust me this was hard to choose!

Keep shining bright sweet Emily <3
