End of Year Review in photos NC Lifestyle Wedding Photographer
We always start the year off with huge plans, and huge goals, and sometimes we are lucky enough to fulfill them, and other times…well, life get’s in the way of those list. But nothing to be ashamed of, or mad about, because everything happens when it’s supposed. I am a firm believer in the “if it’s meant to be it will be, and if it’s his will, it’ll happen”..
With that said, 2015 started off slow, but ended up being a year that I got to explore different opportunities, showcase different styles of photography, work with a bunch of new creatives, create new type of imagery for my brand, and also learn from a lot of mistakes.
So let’s talk about these mistakes (or maybe learning curves)..for instance, insurance on lens (yes, huge deal) .. My hands accidentally got to excited and I dropped my 70-200mm lens on the floor. Thank baby jesus that it was alright. But, for a second my heart sank and I had a heart attack just watching dollar bills crashed onto a cement floor. And then there was the time I stepped into dog poop!? So maybe you bring two pairs of shoes on a wedding day..because you might accidentally not look at where your feet are stepping while shooing the bride and groom and your shoes get acquainted with the neighborhood dogs waste… ( Yes, this happened with my wedding in October for Claire and Mike; and let’s just say I got them to laugh, but cleaning it off was everything but that)… Something else I learned, shooting a wedding in the rain can be magical. I shot another wedding in October with Kristen and Sascha and it rained all day.. We had a beautiful opportunity to run outside during a light drizzle, and as stressful as this was for me to get those pictures, those are one of my favorite that I took all year.
So, maybe next time this happens I need to learn to embrace mother nature, and work around mother nature, because maybe she knows something that I don’t.
I’m a dreamer, and a believer in the magical aspects of life, and I see things like a movie sometimes, and this is good but it also makes when reality happens tough to deal with it at that point in time. But, as I reflect now.. I can say.. I’m okay with all the things that happened this year. And I’m grateful for are all of them. All these little occurrences have just made me that much better at what I do, they pushed me to be innovative, calm, and learn that you can definitely make lemonade out of lemons (that’s the right phrase, right?)
Well nonetheless, I HAVE LEARNED, and GROWN… and I’m not looking for poop incidents for next year, but I welcome the little things that make life interesting 🙂
Here are a few of my favorite images that I got to claim as my own! =)
